Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta are cooperating once again to bring back the Halo China video competition in the year 2026! 

 

Now in its seventh year, the competition will focus on the theme, “Global Vision, China Solution, Indonesia Story: The Four Global Initiatives,” inviting participants to tell inspiring stories that connect global challenges with local experiences in Indonesia. Through creative videos, participants are encouraged to explore one of four themes: building a better future through sustainable and inclusive development (Global Development Initiative), promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation to address shared challenges (Global Security Initiative), celebrating cultural diversity and mutual understanding among people (Global Civilization Initiative), or strengthening international collaboration to create a fairer and more inclusive world (Global Governance Initiative). 

 

Each video submission should be a maximum of 5 minutes and should consist of  information/infographics, analysis, personal stories, or hopes and aspirations surrounding China Indonesia cooperation. The video competition is open to Indonesian youths under 40 years old.

Participant Guidelines

  1. Create your video;

  2. Upload your video to Google Drive;

  3. Fill out the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2026;

  4. Add the link to your video to the registration form (make sure the link is not listed as private; 

  5. Judges Selection Process;

  6. Attend Winner Announcement and Ceremony.

Submission Guidelines

  • Participants must fill in the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2026, and attach the Google Drive link to your submission video. (You can register first and add the link to your video at a later time);

  • Videos may be submitted by an individual or group. There is no limit to the number of people per video submission;

  • Video must be in Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, or English, with corresponding translation subtitles;

  • Video must be no less than 1:00 minute and must not exceed 4:00 minutes in length;

  • Video resolution should not be less than 720p;

  • Video must include proper sources when using external footage;

  • Video must not include anti-religious, racial, violent or pornographic content. No offensive or sensitive content is allowed. 

  • The use of AI-generated video content is not permitted. AI technology may, however, be used to a limited extent as a tool to assist with scriptwriting and other supporting aspects of the creative process. The final video must be created and produced by the participant. Any AI-generated visuals, audio, or other media incorporated into the video are not permitted. The unauthorized use of real individuals’ likenesses, including for the creation of deepfakes, is strictly prohibited. Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with applicable laws and do not infringe upon any third-party rights, including copyright and personality or publicity rights.

To avoid the ineligibility of your video submission, please note the following terms for reference:

  • If the video is in English, please use Bahasa Indonesia or Mandarin subtitles. If the video is in Bahasa Indonesia, please use English or Mandarin subtitles. If the video is in Mandarin, please use English or Bahasa Indonesia subtitles. 

  • Please do not use the pronunciation ‘cina’ in your video. Instead, please use ‘Tiongkok’ or the English pronunciation ‘China’.

  • Please refer to ‘Taiwan’ as Taiwan, China; ‘Hong Kong’ as Hong Kong, SAR China; and ‘Macao’ as Macao, SAR China. 

  • When using maps in your video, please use the official map at bit.ly/halochinamap.

The theme of this video competition is “Global Vision, China Solution, Indonesia Story: The Four Global Initiatives.” Under this main theme, there are four sub-themes:

  • Global Development Initiative (GDI): Building a sustainable, innovative, and people-centered future

    • Examples: Green development, community empowerment, education, healthcare, innovation, and Indonesia–China development cooperation.

  • Global Security Initiative (GSI): Promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation

    • Examples: Peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, regional cooperation, and addressing shared security challenges.

  • Global Civilization Initiative (GCI): Celebrating cultural diversity and mutual understanding

    • Examples: Cultural and student exchanges, language learning, tourism, arts, cuisine, festivals, and cross-cultural friendships.

  • Global Governance Initiative (GGI): Promoting inclusive and fairer governance in multilateral fora

    • Examples: Climate action, public health, digital innovation, youth engagement, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and global partnerships.

Participants are invited to submit videos based on one of these four sub-themes. They are encouraged to draw inspiration from their own experiences, communities, or observations, demonstrating how these global initiatives are reflected through Indonesian stories and China–Indonesia cooperation.

What is Halo China?

Halo China Video Competition is an annual nationwide online video competition hosted by Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta.

 

Is there a registration fee?

No, this video competition is free of charge. All you need to do is to fill in the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2026.

 

Who is eligible to enter this video competition?

Indonesian youths under the age of 40 are eligible to enter this video competition.

 

Can I work in a group?

Yes, you may. However, please make sure that only one team representative submits your video through the bit.ly/halochina2026 registration form. Should your video be determined as one of the winners, the prize will be sent to your team representative.

 

How many winners will be selected? What is the prize?

The committee will select 20 best videos. Winners will receive a cash prize totalling up to Rp132.500.000.

What happened to the Fan Favorite Contest?

Starting the year 2024, the Fan Favorite contest which was conducted in the previous years from 2020-2023 has officially been discontinued. This was a difficult choice to make, however this step had to be taken in order to ensure all aspects of the competition remain fair and credible.

 

How can I win the Lucky Winner Prize?

In order to win the Lucky Winner prize, you must like, comment, and mention 3 of your friends with the hashtag #HaloChina2026, on the “Lucky Winner” post that will be posted on @chinaembassy_indonesia Instagram page. 50 Lucky Winners will be chosen randomly at the end of the Halo China 2026 competition, and will be sent special goodie bags consisting of merchandise from the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta.

 

What is the judging criteria for the videos?

The videos will be assessed based on Creativity (40%), Relevance to Theme (40%), and Production (20%).

 

Will I get a certificate by joining this program?

The Top 20 winners and their group members will obtain a certificate for this program.

The video quality should not be less than 720p. Higher resolution videos are always recommended.

 

Where do I submit my video?

Firstly, create and upload your video on Google Drive. Then, go to bit.ly/halochina2026, fill in your personal details, and attach the link to your video. Make sure the video is accessible to download by checking your sharing settings/permissions. If you have not completed your video yet, you may fill in the registration form first and upload your video at a later time (you can check your email inbox to edit your previous response).

 

May I use AI in my video?
